Summer Wedding Guest Outfit Guide

Being a waitress at a hotel means that during the spring and summer, my main job is working weddings. They are my absolute favourite type of event to work because generally everyone is just so happy to be there and its nice to be around people who are celebrating something that isn't money or age or business related - they're just celebrating each other!  Summer weddings especially are fun because they're often held partially or entirely outside and the sun just makes everyone a lot happier!

Working at weddings means I get to spend rather a lot of my time surveying people's outfits and I think over the years, I've kind of worked out what level of dressed up works at weddings. So this outfit is a summer wedding guest outfit - not for anyone super close to the bride and groom but something that I think is appropriate to wear, if you're a friend. Avoiding colour and style cliches is difficult but I think this works!

What To Wear at Summer Festivals Lookbook

This lookbook really made me smile because I find getting ready for events like music festivals, summer parties, shows and such like, really tough because you need to be comfortable but you want to show that you got some style too! Plus, you don't know what level of casualness people will be going for - especially those who you're travelling or attending with.

To me, this lookbook is fantastic for festival inspiration as it mixes the practical with the fashionable. You can view the full Shopbop lookbook HERE - as always its beautifully styled, beautifully shot on a beautiful background and with beautiful accompanying words.

Craving: Free People Molly Solid Buttondown

With summer briefly appearing this week, I've started looking at some of the summer trends which I want to incorporate into my own personal wardrobe.

Currently, I'm craving the Free People Molly Solid Buttondown in Light Pink. I really like the sheer trend where you can add a tank top, cami or bra underneath a semi-sheer top to create layers and add a little depth or edge to your outfit. Its also nice having a slightly oversized sheer piece of clothing and then skin-tight top beneath to show off your figure. This kind of top can be dressed up for work or a night out, or dressed down with jeans for a more casual look - its just so flexible.

The only problem with the sheer look is that if its not done properly, then it looks horrible - in the case of the the Free People Molly Solid Buttondown, I don't think that would happen because the piece itself is just so beautiful. I like the pleated detailing and the pocket on the front, as well as the Peter-Pan-esque collar and skinny buttons. The colour is perfectly feminine and very summery too.

What do you think of the sheer trend? Would you add this Free People piece to your wardrobe? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Craving: Oliver Peoples Emelita Sunglasses in Red Havana

Sunglasses are my favourite summer accessory - buy the right pair and they'll work with any outfit and last you the whole season, pick the wrong pair and its fashion flop! Last summer, I purchased my first pair of Ray-Ban's and think its about time I add to my collection of designer sunnies!

My current sunglassses craving is the Oliver Peoples Emelita Sunglasses in Red Havana. I want a pair of oversized sunglasses this season, a pair that are fun and easy to hide behind but not so big or overly designed that they dwarf my face. This pair seem like a great compromise for this look. The colour looks great - its fun to wear sunglasses that perhaps aren't your standard pair of black or brown sunnies and this colour seems like it would go perfectly with my hair colour.

They are far to expensive for me to buy but perhaps I'll find a cheap pair that are similar to that to rock this season!

Craving: Urban Outfitters Straw Fedora

Fedora's are a great accesory for summer - stylish and useful as they are great for keeping cool in the summer heat. A particular favourite that I've been craving is the Urban Outfitters Straw Fedora with Grosgrain Ribbon in Cream. Ashley Tisdale was recently spotting rocking this hat on the beach in Maui and its been on my mind ever since (check out a style guide on AshleyStyle.net!)

I particularly like the design of the brim with its uneven rise and fall, and the fact that is not overly long so frames your face nicely. The shade of straw used is nice and looks perfect with blonde hair - I just hope it would look just as good with brunette hair like I have! I also like the design of the ribbon with its simple knot on the side - again the ribbon is not to wide or short but just frames the hat nicely and makes it more feminine! At £18, I don't think its all that expensive for Urban Outfitters quality either

What do you think of fedoras? A summer wardrobe staple? Let me know in the comments!

Craving: Finders Keepers Magic Bus Skirt

My current craving is this Finders Keepers Magic Bus Skirt in Lobster from Planet Blue.

The piece itself is a high-waisted, above the knee skirt with pleating detail, and pink and white pattern all over. The pattern makes it flirty and fun, whilst the pleating means it could work in a professional situation too with a cute cropped blazer. The colour is vivid and adding the white detail makes it

With the snow across the UK this weekend, I'm looking forward to the warmth of spring and I think its perfect for summer paired with a white tank top, tonnes of layered jewelry and some sandals! I think it would also look great with leggings, boots, and a leather jacket in the spring or fall!

Unfortunately, as Planet Blue is a California based company, I won't be able to add this to my spring collection but I am absolutely loving it!
