Last Night's Looks: LACMA Art & Film Gala 2012

With her new brunette hair in a sleek up-do, Amber Heard wore a Gucci Spring 2013 little black dress with a detailed gold and black embellished neckline. She added a pair of black Gucci 'Lisbeth' heels with the delicate three strap look. This dress looks particularly difficult to pull off - not just because its straight cut but also because that neckline is so bold - but Amber certainly manages it. She looks fabulously chic!

The LACMA Art & Film Gala 2012 was held last night and as always with these big events, I wanted to share some of my favourite red carpet looks, as well as some that are.... interesting to say the least! The event was held to honour Ed Ruscha and Stanley Kubrick and presented by Gucci, with the majority of the female attendees wearing a piece from the designers' most recent collections.

Let me know what you think of the looks in the comments below!

Evan Rachel Wood looks beautifully elegant in this one-of-a-kind Gucci frock. The nude and rose gold palette works perfectly for her skin tone and hair colour; and the bold eye make-up gives the look some depth and dramatic edge. Paired with a Gucci box clutch and Gucci rosegold heels, the natural up-do with her flowing blonde hair pulls the whole outfit together. Beautiful and en-trend all at the same time!

Rosie Huntington Whiteley chose a floorlength mint dress with ruffle detail around the neckline from Gucci's Spring 2013 collection, which she paired with Gucci ankle strap sandals and a Gucci box clutch. Rosie styled her look very similarly to the way the brand showcased their outfit on the runway earlier this year with the centre parting bun and make-up. The dress is very straight down, which she is lucky enough to be able to rock, but there is a lot of side boob with this dress which ruins what is otherwise a nice look!

Cameron Diaz wore a Gucci Spring 2013 dress paired with Gucci black ankle-strap heels and a chunky clutch bag. The dress itself is lovely with the oversized sleeves, synched in waist and detailed neckline but the fit just doesn't seem to work for her body shape and I don't think she styled it particularly well with the black heels and clutch, messy up-do and interesting make-up palette - it seems a bit all over the place, almost thrown together.

Last Night's Looks: 2012 Emmy Awards

Leslie Mann walked the carpet wih husband Judd Apatow in a Naeem Khan floorlength Spring 2013 gown with a pocketed full skirt and sheer floral beaded racer-style top. Yellow and marigold colours were particularly popular at last night's event and I think that Leslie's look was one of the best - the full oversized skirt suits her fabulously and the embellished top gives it a feminine girly edge, whilst showing of her svelt figure. I like the simplicity of the make-up and the loose up-do but don't think the turquoise jewels really suit the look - the are lovely pieces but I don't think that shade really works as an accent to this outfit.

Kristen Wiig wowed in a tea-length Balenciaga dress of light chiffon wih sheer panelling. This look appears effortless and I think that's when celebrities and their stylists have worked well together because it looks like this look is natural and so easily accomplished. Paired with a gold Judith Leiber clutch, nude heels, a natural make-up palette and a simple natural hair style, she looks glamourous whilst still having that "girl next door" edge. The nude tones are very pretty and draw attention to the hair style and darker tones of the bag which give the look a bit more edge. This, to me, is the epitome of girly, feminine glamour and Kristen really pulls it off well!

Back on the red carpet after giving birth a few short weeks ago, Giuliana Rancic showed how hard shes been working on her figure after the birth in a slinky Romona Keveza black mermaid style gown. Paired with a box clutch and intricate sandals, she looks professional (ready for E! on the Red Carpet!) but also sexy with the thigh-high slit in the dress, synched in waist and high ponytail. The hair style works brilliantly with the angular neckline and doesnt make the shoulders appear bare which is a welcome relief with so many stars recently seemingly making a stunning dress look bare and like its hanging there! What a great "back to work" outfit!!

What was your favourite look from the evening? Let me know in the comments below!

Last Night's Looks: 2012 Teen Choice Awards

Victoria Justice wore an animal print Gomez Gracia dress with high-low hem and halter neck, paired with a Swarovski waist belt, Lauren Merkin Clutch Bag and nude heels. I love how sophisticated she looks in the outfit with the halter neck and straightened hair adding an older element; and the hemline and fun graphic print really giving it a young twist. I love the black theme running through the whole outfit but would perhaps have liked to have seen different shoes!

Kristen Stewart was snapped backstage wearing a statement Roberto Cavalli Resort 2013 jacket and leather skinny trousers paired with a grey tee and Christian Louboutin's. She usually wears mini dresses to this sort of event but rocking the menswear trend is a style which Kristen is very lucky to be  able to pull off - not many red-carpet stars can - and she does it very well! I love the hair style too - looking from the front like she's shaved her hair off on one side, when in fact she's just braided it.

Taylor Swift stuck with a very neutral palette wearing a cream Maria Lucia Hohan dress with a false low back, very pale pink Prada heels and Edie Parker jewels and clutch. The dress and style of this whole outfit suit her perfectly and the nude/pinky shade hinted in the earrings and heels is a nice touch but I would have loved to have seen a pop of colour - perhaps from the clutch or in the make up. Saying that, its a very elegant look which suits her well and the hair looks fab up like that!

Lea Michele walked the carpet in a silver Versace Spring 2012 Mini Dress which she accessorized with Versace pumps. This is a very sexy look from Lea but I'm not sure how much I think it suits her - especially with the slightly messy hair and huge grin on her face, rather than a sultry pout. The dress suits her shape nicely, creating definition at her hips which she otherwise may not have had. I would have liked to have seen some statement accessories to go with this look rather than the plain silver pumps though.

Summer Wedding Guest Outfit Guide

Being a waitress at a hotel means that during the spring and summer, my main job is working weddings. They are my absolute favourite type of event to work because generally everyone is just so happy to be there and its nice to be around people who are celebrating something that isn't money or age or business related - they're just celebrating each other!  Summer weddings especially are fun because they're often held partially or entirely outside and the sun just makes everyone a lot happier!

Working at weddings means I get to spend rather a lot of my time surveying people's outfits and I think over the years, I've kind of worked out what level of dressed up works at weddings. So this outfit is a summer wedding guest outfit - not for anyone super close to the bride and groom but something that I think is appropriate to wear, if you're a friend. Avoiding colour and style cliches is difficult but I think this works!

Wardrobe Staples: Jersey Skater Dress

I wanted to share another wardrobe staple with you - jersey skater dresses. With the weather so changeable at the moment, I've found these mini dresses to be the most useful basic and a fabulous edition to my wardrobe.

I've always been very scared to try on clothes like this because I'm not the most confident of people and prefer to hide my lumps and bumps wherever possible. With the jersey material that you would presume to be clingy in the wrong places, they don't look all that appealing on the hanger. So to those who are like me, go for it because sometimes when you're ransacking the aisles and you've picked up a few bits, you might find a gem.

The shape of this style of dress is so flattering - particularly I find for those with a little waist and bigger hips & thighs. It skims over the stomach and flares out as soon as it reaches your hips so no one need know you're hiding slightly chubby thighs beneath. I also find they are super adaptable no matter what the occasion - I've paired my red dress with a brown leather jacket, chunky knit scarf, tights and boots on those days when its not so warm and also rocked the dress with layered necklaces, leggings and heels for a night-out with my friends. You can also pair it with jeans when you don't want to get the legs out, or bum around the house in them with a pair of shorts.

Check out the Topshop's Flippy Hem Dresses (as featured above) HERE - I've brought two colours of this style so far and I'm definately going to get more! In particular, I've found the material to be uber-comfy - not the kind of comfy where the fabric stretches out of shape and looks awful but in a flattering way where you can feel relaxed without having to worry about how you look like. The fabric is of a great quality, the come in a great selection of colours, they wash up nicely, they haven't stretched or got out of shape and they're on sale for £12 right now - bargain!

Jersey Skater Dresses are a great basic for anyone's collection no matter what size, shape or style you rock, its very flattering and has become one of my wardrobe staples.

Last Night's Looks: 2012 MTV Movie Awards

Jessica Biel impressed in a white Chanel Spring 2012 dress which she paired with Barbara Bui sandals and Giles & Brother jewelry. I really love how this dress isn't your traditional little white dress - with the billowing oversized sleeves, interesting material pattern and high neck it gives it an edge. Also adding the hint of mint with the fabulous sandals and the blunt hairstyle give real contrast to the softer, figure hugging dress.

Emma Stone definitely caught my eye in a Martin Grant Fall 2012 dress with Brian Atwood's 'Grace' heels. The nude and black theme throughout this outfit work so well together whilst the shape of the dress with the V's is very flattering and the shoes with their fun heel design make her legs look endlessly long. I like the pop of colour from the make-up, the pattern on the shoes and the tousled hair which makes her look young and fun in a mature outfit.

Teen Wolf's Crystal Reed wore a printed Issa London dress from the brand's Fall 2012 Collection which she paired with Walter Steiger boots and assorted jewelry from brands including Made Her Think and La Vian. The style, colour and pattern of the dress look great and the messy up-do works well too. To me, the only downfall for this outfit is the shoes - the boots make her legs look a little stumpy and seem to draw the eye to them rather than the focal point of the dress.

Emma Watson, with her chic cropped bob, wore a Brood Fall 2012 top and matching skirt, which she paired with Tabitha Simmons sandals. That colour and messy pattern which runs throughout the skirt, top and is reflected in the shoes is so young and fun it gives the outfit a real edge to it - it seems to perfectly suit her skin tone too. I like that she's paired it with more chunky, gothic-esque cuffs - its something pretty different for Emma and I like it!

Last Night's Looks: 2012 Billboard Music Awards

Carrie Underwood walked the carpet at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards wearing an Oscar de la Renta Fall 2012 Gown paired with a 'Cara' clutch and matching heels from the same designer. I think Carrie looks like a princess with her long blonde hair tumbling over her shoulders and the epic frothiness of the dress. It suits her figure perfectly, I like the accessories she paired with it and her neutral make-up makes her look eau-natural! Love the whole look - definately my favourite from the night.

Alicia Keys wore a very close fitting Azzedine Alaia Couture gown in what I can only describe as a mixture between a really dark berry colour and black. She definately has an amazing figure that can totally rock this dress but the fact there is nothing to draw your attention away from the flatness of the colour kind of disappointed me - I would have loved it to be backless or feature a lace back. I love the braided hair all pinned up, the layering of Repossi earrings and the bold make-up which gives her an edge.

Jordin Sparks wore a Diane von Furstenberg ‘Zarita’ lace dress which she paired with black DVF sandals and David Yurman jewelry. I love the scalloped edges, the floral pattern and three-quarter length sleeves on this dress - it looks sexy and professional all at the same time. Liking that she rocked the side ponytail all ruched and messed up - its one of my favourite hairstyles and I love seeing celebs rocking it too. The shoes are a bit boring but overall I really love the look!

Miley Cyrus wore a white Jean Paul Gaultier jacket as a dress which she paired with black and white Christian Louboutin heels and Jacquie Aiche jewelry. The hair looks far too old for her - she's still a late teen but this hair looks like its from a 40 year old woman (the cut and the colour). That body chain she's wearing seems to be supporting her boobs (which look rubbish in this dress) and the shoes look like a last minute add-on to the outfit. Her figure looks great and wearing a jacket as a dress was very daring but I don't think on this occasion she pulled it off.

Outfit Of The Day: Vanessa Hudgens on May 3rd

On May 3rd when out and about in Studio City, Los Angeles, Vanessa Hudgens was spotted wearing a Style Stalker Eno Dress in Black, the Spell Pocahontas Princess Necklace, her classic Chanel 2.5 Flap Bag, Koolaburra Khloe Sandals and a pair of cat eye sunglasses.

Vanessa's style can be very hit or miss. Some of her outfits are just impeccable and so stylish whilst others are just.... hideous! This is such a beautiful outfit (and its nice to see her out without her BF Austin Butler).

I love the cutouts in the side of the dress which give that LBD look a bit more of an edge, and pairing it with the cute necklace with the turquoise highlights is really fun - I love oversized statement necklaces like that. I'm not to keen on these shoes with that dress - would like to have seen something that was black or colorful, not brown - but I'm sure in a different outfit they would look great!

Let's hope that she sticks with being stylish this summer (her last few outfits have been spot on!) and not overly bo-ho like some of her outfits seem to edge towards.

Last Night's Look: 2012 Academy Awards

Emma Stone wore a stunning floor-length high-necked Giambattista Valli Couture gown in a deep red colour. The dress looks sleek and sophisticated whilst the bow detail on the neckline really gives it a quirky, young twist. I like how she styled her hair up as the dress is quite busy and needs simple make-up and hair looks to not look too overdone. She also added a Louis Vuitton Clutch and Louis Vuitton jewelry to finish her outfit.

The 2012 Academy Awards were held last night (February 26th) at the Hollywood and Highland Center in Los Angeles. The creme de la creme of stars turned out including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lopez and even the Prince and Princess of Monaco!

These are some of my favourite looks from the red carpet - what were yours?

Cameron Diaz wore a strapless floor-length Gucci Premiere gown in a very pale nude colour with Salvatore Ferragamo heels. I adore the simple bodice combined with the embellishment at the top of the skirt and the layers of fabric as it flows beautifully to the floor in an almost dreamlike manner. She paired it with a simple make-up look and added a side parting to her bob which I think looks fabulous and really brings the whole look together.

Kate Mara posed on the red carpet in a floral embellished floor-length Jack Guisso Couture gown. This looks is very romantic with the flowiness of the skirt, the pale pink colour and the draped one sleeve. I like how she's added the pale pink belt to as it helps define a figure that could have been lost in the dress otherwise. Her make-up and hair are simple but lovely however I wish she'd added a simple diamond necklace to this look because she looks very bare in the shoulder area.

Kristin Wiig wore a strapless J. Mendel Fall 2012 dress in a nude colour. I love the skirt on this dress - it looks so dreamy with its fun layers although its not the most flattering shape. As with many of the female celebs looks at the Oscars, Kristin kept her make-up very simple but I do think it would have looked great with a bolder lip or eyes to draw away from the constant nude colours. She also kept her hair very simple which works well.

Last Night's Look: 2012 Brit Awards

Rihanna wore an embellished floor length Givenchy Couture gown. The taupe backless dress featured an above-the-knee split and matching plunging neckline, which she paired with a pair of leather gloves and studded heels. I think the dress looks sleek, stylish and modern on her figure. I know that this style of glove is going to be big in Fall/Winter 2012 but its not a trend that I'm a fan of - it draws the attention away from the dress!

The 2012 BRIT Awards were held yesterday evening (January 21st) at the O2 Arena in London. The event was hosted by the fabulous James Corden and stars in attendance included Will.I.Am, Coldplay, Adele and more. I've picked a few looks from the event that I think are blogworthy (some for good reasons,  some not so good) and would love to hear your thoughts on each of them! Who's outfit do you think stood out?

Lana Del Ray looked stunning in a red off-the-shoulder floorlength gown from Vivienne Westwood. I wish she's added some edgy accessories to this outfit though as the dress itself is quite simple yet soft and needs something to make it shine. Saying that, I love the shape of the neckline and how she's styled her hair to exemplify it; and I also really like the shape of the dress itself with its flowiness and train.

Florence Welch picked a nude Alexander McQueen gown with a rise and fall skirt and tonnes of frills. I really don't like the dress mainly because its just so busy you don't know where to look - too many frills! I don't think it helps that she is so pale that in some places you kind of can't see where the dress ends and she starts... I do like the Alexander McQueen heels though, the hair is simple but it works and the tonnes of layered rings that she's worn are fab!

Jessie J opted for a sheer red lace dress with floral embroidery and matching red knickers. I generally quite like the sheer trend - its teasing but gives an edge to outfits that would otherwise be a bit simple - however on this occasion I don't think it works at all. There's a difference between having sheer parts of a dress and just wearing a net curtain and the part of her that is most covered is her carves and feet by the fullness of the train... I just don't get it!

Victoria Beckham A/W 2012

Victoria Beckham Officer Pleat Flare Dress in Black

I was massively impressed (as I seemingly always am!) with Victoria Beckham's Autumn/Winter 2012 collection during New York Fashion Week earlier this month. I thought her collection was absolutely stunning and can't wait to see them worn by celebrities across the red carpet over the coming months.

Victoria seems to know exactly what dresses suit women's figures and really plays to that in the individual dress designs. She changes her brand's look each collection but keeps the same fabulous traits like the chunky visible zip down the back of many of her dresses. The venue she picked for her show was stunning with the wooden floorboards and backdrop that perfectly set off the dresses she's created this season. Finally, I loved the boots and chunky socks that she chose to pair each of the dresses with - perfect for fall!

I've chosen some of my favourites above and below but you can view the entire collection on her website! What was your favourite piece from Victoria this season? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Last Night's Look: 2012 Grammy Awards

Carrie Underwood wore a white floorlength backless gown by Gomez-Gracia paired with a black clutch and diamond jewelry. Embellished gowns were a bit of a theme of the evening but Carrie's was quite different with the ruggedness of her look rather than the sleek sequined looks of others. I love the messy hair style paired with the elegant gown, but dislike the bold black bag - she does look fabulous if a bit covered up!

The 2012 Grammy Awards were held last night (January 12th) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. There were a huge variety of gowns, designers, make-up and hair styles on loads of stars from Adele to Rebecca Black! I've picked a few of my favourite looks and can't wait to hear what yours are!

Jessie J wore a completely embellished floor length Julien Macdonald gown with a mermaid style skirt and structured shape. She added a LuluGuinness signature black lips clutch to complete the look. The dress perfectly suits her (even if it does resemble a disco ball!) and I like that she kept her hair in those blunt bangs as it hits back to her normal look and styles whilst looking more red carpet glam.

Taylor Swift wore a nude embellished Zuhair Muard gown from the Fall 2011 Runway Collection. The high neckline and capped sleeves are something I don't think we've seen Taylor in before and it really suits her - especially with that high simple bun and quite nude make-up palette. I know she wears nude dresses quite a lot but I thought this was a different look for her and one which she pulled off well.

Gwyneth Paltrow wore a floor length Stella McCartney gown with cutout detailing and a shiny gold belt. I think the gown itself is fabulous as it gives the illusion of curves to her figure whilst still looking dramatic and sexy. For this particular look, I would love to have seen her hair up in a sleek side ponytail as I think it would have complimented the belt and shape of the dress fabulously!

Tonight's Looks: 2012 BAFTA Awards

Michelle Williams looked fabulous on the orangey red carpet wearing a custom floor length strapless H&M gown inspired by their Conscious Collection. She paired it with ForeverMark jewelery and an Olympia Le-Tan clutch bag - I love that it looks like she's toting a book! I like the block colour of the black skirt and the cream corset - the shape is simple but suits her perfectly!

The 2012 BAFTA's are being held this evening at the Royal Opera House in London and the stars have turned out in force - as always! All of the women must have been freezing in those dresses though - we've barely pushed into positive temperatures this weekend! I've picked out a few of my favourite looks and would love to hear your thoughts on them too!

Penelope Cruz is probably getting the most attention for her BAFTA outfit this year - she wore a strapless floor-length Armani Prive gown in a deep red colour with sparkling diamond jewelry.I don't like the neckline of the dress at all - the straight line just doesn't work for me with her own fabulous curves. I do like the waist ruffling though!  I think her hair looks fab up and the bangs/fringe really work well!

Fearne Cotton was covering the event for E! alongside Dermot O Leary! She wore a stunning pink floorlength Moschino gown with high neck, long sleeves and bow & embellished detailing. I am in love with this look - Fearne has quite a boyish figure and a retro, vintage style so I think this dress really suits her. I also love her hair and make-up - the big curls look fab!

Meryl Streep looked amazing (as always) in a black Vivienne Westwood  floorlength gown with embellished corset belt and bolero. I can't really blame her for wearing the cover-up though - its freezing in the UK at the moment so bring on the summer! Her up-do looks fabulous and she looks as young and sexy as ever! There are no other words!

Last Night's Looks: 2012 SAG Awards

The 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles last night (January 29th), so I thought I would post about some of my favourite red carpet fashion from the event!

Natalie Portman wore a gorgeous strapless Giambattista Valli gown in a fabulous berry colour - the bow detailing on the neckline is great and I love how it draws in at the waist before flowing out into the skirt - it shows her figure off perfectly! She paired it with a pair of Jimmy Choos, an embellished Judith Leiber Clutch and Harry Winston jewels. The ruby and diamond earrings are attention grabbing and perfectly compliment the look and toting that silver clutch brings life to the outfit. Usually I'm not keen on having hair up with strapless dresses but with the bold neckline detail, I think it works great!

Jayma Mays walked the carpet in a glittering black Reem Acra gown which she paired with Brian Atwood Heels, a Judith Leiber Clutch and Neil Lane Jewelry. My favourite part about this dress is the lace back which creates a real centrepiece and uniqueness, whilst the long train is fun and adds dimension to an otherwise figure hugging piece. The earrings are a great addition but although the rest of her make-up is flawless, I'm not keen on the colour of the eyeshadow - it seems a bit out of place.

Dianna Agron wore a sleeveless gown from Carolina Herrera which she paired with Jimmy Choo's, a Ferragamo bag and Fred Leighton jewelry. I like that the dress is not to over-complicated and is figure hugging so gives her some shape. I'm not keen on the neckline and think she should have added a simple necklace here as it looks pretty bare up top! I like the way her hair has been styled with the messy fishtail braid and her make-up is flawless too! This look is very mature and I think it suits Dianna fabulously.

Lea Michele walked the red carpet in a floor length, one shoulder Versace dress, silver Casadei heels, a Fendi bag and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.  I really struggled to find a picture of this dress from the front (it seemed like she walked the red carpet sideways - perhaps she only likes the look from the side?!) and I'm not keen on the layers on the bodice or the color but I do like the flowiness of the skirt. I particularly like the bangle that she's wearing as its bold but I feel like her hair would have been better in a half up/half down do to really show of the one-shoulder detailing.

Last Night's Looks: Golden Globes

The Golden Globes Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles last night (January 15th), so I thought I would post about some of my favourite red carpet fashion from the event!

Jessica Alba chose an embellished strapless lavender gown from Gucci and added Giuseppe Zanotti heels and Bulgari diamond jewelry. This shows off her incredible figure to its absolute best with the tight figure hugging bodice matched with the short but delicate train. I also love how the embellishment is followed throughout the outfit - not just the dress. Its a very romantic, elegant look that Jessica pulls off fabulously!

Sarah Hyland went for a a figure hugging Dolce and Gabbana gown with black belt and black clutch. I adore the lace detailing of both the dress and belt as it makes the outfit look so feminine and dreamy - pairing it with that belt gives it a rockier edge which is so fun. The hair style also looks great and brings this whole elegant look together - minus the infamous wardrobe malfunction, I think it was a great pick!

As the new face of Dior, Mila Kunis chose a one shoulder Christian Dior floorlength gown and Cartier Jewelry. I love the nude inner layer of fabric which really makes the ruffling of the bodice stand out. Not all that keen on the shoulder strap (I think it would have looked great without it and with her hair down), but the  floaty skirt looks dreamy and just so fun, whilst the shape itself is wearable by so many types of figures.

Charlize Theron opted for a high-low Christian Dior gown with embellished Cartier Headband and Givenchy Heels. The ruffle in the risen skirt matched with the flowing train look stunning and I love how she's chosen to add a headband - I feel like not enough stars really use their hair to its full potential in outfits! I also like the deep V neckline - I usually HATE it in dresses but she really pulls it off well!
